Hi Ladies!
Not seeing much chatter on here. Let us all know how you are doing, things you have found, etc. What do you think is the theme of Titus? Let me know what you think. I'll give you the answer tomorrow.
Please continue to go through the chapters (2 & 3) and circle key words, find themes for each paragraph and then for the whole book if you haven't already.
I'll give you something new to look at tomorrow. Have a blessed time studying!

I see the theme for Titus as being about sound doctrine and good works. Paul instructs them to live their lives in such a way that their actions are above reproach, thus sound doctrine. Paul also tells them to do good works so they are fruitful; in other words, so God is glorified and the enemy put to shame.
ReplyDeleteAs I was reading through the criteria for selecting an elder, this time a new twist occurred to me. Normally, I've looked at this as "rules", but this time I realized that the criteria Paul listed were characteristics that help prevent the enemy from getting a foothold in the family - and therefore the church. Paul is wise enough to know that the church, and specifically the leaders, will come under attack. (How many ministries have crumbled because a leader fell?) If there is division in the home, how much more vulnerable would these men be. I now see it as more than Paul giving his list of high standards - he wants to protect these men and the new churches.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! Did this type of study help you see that better?
