Mark 13

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend! I only saw a couple prayer requests... hope to hear from the rest of you!

Chapter 13 is about the signs of the end times. I'd love to hear some of the things you got out of this chapter.

The one thing that stood out to me the most in this chapter was verse 32. No one but the Father knows the hour and time of Jesus return. Not the angels. Not even Jesus. Just the Father. One of the remarks I read about this verse says "When Christ became human, he gave up the right to use his divine abilities for his own purposes. Because Jesus submitted to the Father in everything, he left the matter of the timing of his return to the Father, too. People today who claim to know the day of Christ's return are claiming to know more than Jesus did, and are false prophets." I think it is amazing that Jesus gave up his divine abilities in this regard for each of us. What a priceless thing he did for us!

  1. This topic is one that has been the focus of great discussion in my extended family lately. The thing I hold on to is that everyone needs to hear the gospel so they can be saved, and I should be diligent in sharing it (no matter what or when or how the end times begin). Tomorrow may be someone's last day. Sharing the love of Christ is our calling, our commission.

The other thing I really liked in this passage is that Jesus uses a teachable moment. The disciples were commenting on the beauty of buildings, and Jesus used that comment to teach them about something else they needed to know. I used to be pretty good about taking advantage of teachable moments with my children, but realize now that I don't do that as much anymore. This passage served as a good reminder to me.

  2. The sign of the times is always a closing statement at the end of the News Show "Nightline". I am fascinated by the study of prophecy and I love to compare the Old Testatment to the New Testament. I have heard teachers of the Word say that the Old Testament is prophecy of the New Testament. It is so true! No one knows when Jesus, Yeshua his Hebrew name will return. Only God the Father knows up in heaven. My personal opinion is that we as Christians need to be ready and we also need to be aware of what is going on globally, locally and in the United States as a nation. There are signs and warnings for God's people. We just have to be in tune with the Holy Spirit to notice and no without a doubt that God is speaking to HIS people! Speak God, Speak! I want to hear your voice!
